How to Grow a Business When You Have Almost No Extra Time
It rarely feels like any of us have any extra time. Pursuing our hobbies, investing in personal growth, going to the gym...we all have areas where we wish we could spend more time. But what if there was a way to maximize the time you do have? And what if you could create enough of that extra time to do something as bold as starting your own business?!
You may think it's a long shot, but it can be done. As an example, this week's podcast guest, Barbara Turley, started her business by accident while pregnant with her first child. Here are a few details of how it happened for her and how it can happen for you. Listen in to the episode below to hear the whole conversation.
Take A Look At What You Are Good At
You may be good at delegating, cooking, organizing. Look at your skills and determine how you can turn that into a business. Know your passion and where your purpose lies. If you love what you do, it won’t feel like work at all.
Make Time For Your Business
Set a schedule. A schedule is a life saver for me! If you are a mom, get up a little earlier before the kids. If your kids still nap, work while they nap. If you can afford it, put your kids in daycare a couple hours a week or get a nanny. Be strict with your time.
Build A Team
Once you have started your business build a team that can be there to support you. You don’t have to do everything yourself. Delegating gives you more time to do other things for your business and your home life. Remember that balance is important.
There's No Substitution For Great Communication
You want your business to be successful and run smoothly so make sure you have good systems and processes in place when delegating tasks. Good communication is always key. Remember that nobody can read your mind and the best leaders are the most predictable and consistent ones.
